Grants are available to help organisations and individuals in the UK to host an Armed Forces Day event which can take place within two weeks of the Armed Forces Day event. Deadline 01/03/2021

Background
Since 2009, Armed Forces Day has been marked annually with events large and small throughout the UK.
Objectives of Fund
The objective of the fund is to support Armed Forces Day events across the UK to show support for our servicemen and women, past and present.
A maximum grant of £10,000 is available per application, provided that MOD funding accounts for no more than 50% of the total cost.
This grant is match funded and can cover up to half the total cost of the event. For example, if the total cost of the event is £10,000 and £5,000 has been raised, the grant could cover up to £5,000.
In the past grants have ranged from a few hundred pounds for a street party to thousands of pounds for larger events.
Match Funding Restrictions
Match funding of 50% of the total cost of the event is required.
Who Can Apply
Local councils, voluntary and community organisations, schools, ex-service organisations and individuals in the UK are eligible to apply.

The funding cannot be used for:
· Hospitality, including food, drinks and accommodation.
· Military assets, including displays, equipment or military vehicles.
· Entertainment, such as bands or musicians, films or other entertainment.
· Transport for guests or organisers.
· VAT.
Eligible Expenditure
Armed Forces Day events can come in any size or shape, from national and regional celebrations, local events organised by councils, ex-Service organisations, community groups and schools. Parades of veterans, cadets and/or currently serving personnel are very popular, as are presentations of veterans' badges.
In the past, other ideas for activities have included the following:
· Picnic in the park.
· Themed BBQ.
· Knees up in your living room.
· Street party.
· Fete.
The 2021 event should:
· Be held within two weeks of the Armed Forces Day, including the weekends (the 2021 Armed Forces Day will be held on Saturday 26 June 2021). The two weeks would run from Saturday 19 June to Sunday 4 July 2021.
· Have 'Armed Forces' in the event title.
· Be relevant to today's serving Armed Forces.
· Have free access to members of the 'Armed Forces Family'.
· Not be centred around fundraising or recruitment.
The funding can be used to pay for:
· Road closures required to hold an event, including to allow for parades and marches.
· Decorations, flags and banners.
· Newspaper and radio advertisements to promote the event.
· Marshalling, security and first aid arrangements for the event.
· Insurance.
· PA and communications systems.
Note: Armed Forces Day events may be affected by coronavirus/COVID-19 and event organisers should refer to the latest COVID-19 Government guidance or seek advice from their Devolved Administration and Local Authority.
How To Apply
Applications for 2021 event funding will be accepted from 4 November 2020 to 1 March 2021.
The first step in the application process is to register the event on the Armed Forces Day website
Once groups have registered their event, they will receive a confirmation email within three working days. This email contains a link to submit an application for funding.
